Aqua-Dec is quite simply a preformed shower base, which can be set into both wooden and concrete floors in order to create a smooth surface. This can then be tiled over, or covered in various types of non-slip material to form a wet-room floor. The wet-room is becoming increasingly popular in Britain- although until now it has proven difficult for many to create this contemporary and minimalist showering space, however, Impey have incorporated practicality and durability to master the problems encountered by those looking to install the ever popular wet-room.

Impey have created this unique design in order to avoid joists amongst other things, and at only 22mm thick, Aqua-Dec overcomes even the most unconventional floor without looking obtrusive. The gradient remains consistent, and manual labour is kept to a minimum- Aqua-Dec can even be trimmed down or reversed and comes in a wide range of sizes- Creating the perfect wet-room could not be easier! Impey have carefully considered drainage solutions so that in most cases the drain will comfortably avoid joists.

On concrete floors, Aqua-Dec can be set into the concrete once the pipe work has been finished, so that it sits level with the existing flooring. This means that the floor can then be completely tiled over or non-slip flooring can cover the area. On timber floors, firstly the floorboards are removed in order to install the drainage and pipe work, followed by the sheet of Aqua-Dec being permanently fitted on to the joists. By using plywood to build up the floor level around the dec, this then enables a perfectly smooth and even surface to be tiled on to.

TileSafe
Tilesafe, a membrane consisting of a thick rubberised layer and a woven glass mesh on one side, can be used to waterproof the showering area. This ensures durability and gives a watertight surface, and is recommended when tiling over Aqua-Dec in order to ensure a strong bond between the tiles and the floor. The adhesive used in conjunction with Tilesafe and Aqua-Dec is fast-drying which means tiles can be laid on the same day, as well as having the assurance of a watertight structure having been created.
